The last training session before Christmas will be Saturday 22nd December, we will re-open formally on Saturday 5th January. There may be an informal senior grade class by arrangement on Saturday 29th December - senior grade students email if interested.

The demonstration in Birkenhead park on Friday 1st June, for the Olympic Torch Event organised by Wirral Council, was a big success. Despite it being at 4pm on a weekday we still managed to get 25 volunteers! Well done everyone.
Winning entries for the competition to give a 10th way that parents can encourage their child to stick at Taekwon-Do and improve at it, were:
'Read the magazine with them' given by Owen B and also by James P and 'ask their friends to join' given by Emma O
Therefore a Wirral UKTA jacket each will be awarded to those people. Well done!
The new Blue Belt and above classes with Mr Caine start this week at Moreton at 11.30am to 12.30. They will be every third week from then on - See the calandar for a list of dates.
Carl Davies, 4th Dan, the overall British Blackbelt Champion 2011, is coming to Wirral on Sunday 29th January to give a training session to Wirral Taekwon-do students and friends.
The session is suitable for all grades and ages and runs from 10am till 1pm at Moreton. It is a great opportunity for Taekwon-do practitioners on Wirral. Master Andrew Kang-Hae Rhee, 7th Dan Master, son of First Grandmaster Rhee Ki Ha is coming to Wirral this Sunday, 15th January.
Master Rhee is now based in Australia so we are very lucky to have him come and conduct a seminar for us here at Wirral UKTA.
This is a last minute arrangement but will hopefully still be well attended as it is a fantastic opportunity not to be missed.

The UK Open was held in Guildford this year. The event was open to Taekwon-do practitioners from all associations, and over 420 competitors from various associations from around the UK took part along with some from Europe. Unfortunately no medals for us this time as only one competitor from Wirral went! However, it cost him nothing as we paid his entry costs, and what a great day out!
Congratulations to Carl Davies 4th Dan, over all male British Black Belt Champion 2011 who will be coming to Wirral soon to share his expertise with us.
Instead of a masters seminar at Moreton this Saturday, (7th May) we will be having a training session conducted by Mr Chan 5th Dan & Mr Lopez 4th Dan.
Mr Chan is a multiple ITF National champion in power, patterns & sparring and has been an England competitor since 2007. He has been a World & European team medallist and will be representing England in the ITF 2011 World championships in N.Korea this September!
Mr Lopez is a multiple ITF National Champion in patterns and sparring, was ITF European Power Champion in 2007 and has also been an assistant ITF England Coach!
It should be a fantastic session, and better still will be entirely FREE for those Wirral students who pay fees monthly. For those who pay per lesson it will be the cost of your normal lesson. (Christ Church school students pay £4 ). For those grading, Mr Chan will conduct the grading afterwards. Grading costs are as normal.
Please come and enjoy this class and make the most of this fantastic opportunity whether you are grading or not. GIVE IN YOUR NAMES ASAP!
5 Wirral UKTA students travelled down to Guildord for the English Open. Congratulations to them all for taking part but especially to John K, who brought home a Gold medal in the under 13 special technique event and Laura-Jane who brought home a silver medal in the under 13 green belt sparring. Well done!
We are holding a Masterclass event on Sunday the 27th March at Woodchurch High School Sports Complex. The event is open to the public from 11.15 till 12.15.
Come along and watch aspects of the class taking place, interspersed with some spectacular demonstrations.

Masterclass & demonstration event at Woodchurch High School Sports Complex with ITF Senior Master Gary Miller, 8th Dan.
Senior Master Miller is a member of the International Taekwon-do Federation's Technical & Education Committee. He has also had considerable competition successes, including:

This event has been funded by Sport England so there is NO COST. It's open to all our members along with other invited guests from the World of Taekwon-do. The demonstration part of the event will be open to members of the public.
There will be workshops for different ages and grades on such things as sparring, power, hosin sul, special techniques etc. More details will follow.
Following on from the success in the summer of the FREE 10 week Taekwon-Do course provided by Sport England via Wirral UKTA Taekwon-Do School, another similar project is set to take place. This time it will be an ‘intensive’ 6 weeks FREE training taking place mainly in the Moreton area.
Participants will receive free instruction and also a FREE licence & insurance valid for 12 months. There is nothing at all to pay and no obligation whatsoever. There will also be an opportunity for the person who has shown the most commitment, to win a scholarship to continue with free lessons for a further 3 months.
Wirral UKTA is Merseyside’s only Sport England Clubmark accredited Taekwon-Do School and has highly qualified and experienced, male and female instructors.
Those eligible to take part are people from the Wirral area, aged between 10 and 19 years who do not currently do Taekwon-Do elsewhere, (although they may have done it before in the past). Participants aged 18 & 19 may opt to join adult classes at different times & venues instead, but there will still be no charge.
The course starts on the 21st November although you can opt to start earlier than this if you wish.
You may opt to take some of the lessons at venues other than Moreton.
